MintDefense is designed for inexperienced and experienced users. Inexperienced users don't need Web3 knowledge to use it and be protected from scam sites. Experienced users with Web3 knowledge also benefit from the same protection.
No Antivirus or security solution is 100% effective. This also applies to MintDefense, which protects you against 99.9% of malicious sites that steal your crypto and NFTs.
MintDefense works with MetaMask on Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Brave, Edge, etc.) on PC, Mac, and Linux computers. Other browsers, such as Firefox, will be supported in the future.
MintDefense only scans websites that have Web3 activity.
No. It can't control your MetaMask wallet and doesn't have access to your seed phrase or private keys.
Only a little bit. For legitimate sites, MintDefense's scans usually last 1~ second. If MintDefense believes the site could be malicious, it will take up to 5~ seconds to determine it.
Not yet. For most Web3 users, we recommend not using mobile for crypto.
It works on up to 5 devices in the same location. Since it works based on devices, you can use as many wallets as you want. VPNs in the same geolocation should not affect MintDefense.
The code for all Chrome extensions published in the Chrome
Store is open source. Anyone can access it, and it
can't be obfuscated per Chrome Store's policy.
MintDefense's algorithm is not open source for two
simple reasons:
1- If scammers learn how
MintDefense's algorithm detects scams, they will
develop ways to circumvent them, endangering our users.
2-
MintDefense is the only paid Web3 security solution
because it focuses on detecting scams. The algorithm and
its engines are proprietary to protect our intellectual
property.
Would you give the world the keys to
your house's alarm system? We wouldn't.
That's why MintDefense is closed source.
No. MintDefense sits between your wallet and Web3 sites. When it detects Web3 interaction, it analyzes it and protects you from malicious sites.
No. MintDefense does not protect you against files in your device's hard drive. We recommend you not download files from unknown sources on the computer you manage crypto at.
MintDefense should work with other Web3 security
extensions, but we recommend using only MintDefense as
your Web3 security guardian. This recommendation also
applies to antiviruses. If you already have one on your
computer and try to install another one, it will warn you
to uninstall the current one to proceed.
If you
want to use it alongside other extensions, the result can
be that it shows it is scanning before or after them. In
some cases, it can stop other extensions from working or
lead them to malfunction. And in the worst case, other
extensions may stop or lead MintDefense to malfunction.
